Kuwait\'s Scientific Centre released eight endangered green turtles into their original habitat in the shores of the Gulf on Tuesday. The turtles were brought to the centre by individuals and local fishermen last year after being found on several sea shores injured and unable to move, said the centre\'s chairman and managing director Mijbil Al-Mutawa. The green turtle is listed as endangered by both the International Union for Conservation of Nature and the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. After being taken in the turtles were treated under the full supervision of chief marine biologist Yareb Al-Yahya, until their full recovery. The move was carried out in accordance with the one of the state-funded organisation\'s main functions in protecting local marine wildlife, noted Al-Mutawa. The centre has released many turtles, birds and other animals back into the wild, after being treated for injuries and illnesses in its mission to conserve Kuwait\'s wildlife
