Ritz Carlton hotel

In yet another sign that New York pastry chef Dominique Ansel is an undisputed international trailblazer in butter and sugar, the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Jakarta has launched a not so subtle knock-off of his Cookie Shot. And called it, well, the Cookie Shot.
Because unlike the Cronut, which is trademarked, Ansel hasn’t sought a similar copyright on his interactive dessert that plays on the notion of milk and cookies.
So, pastry chef Hendri Chang of The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta Mega Kuningan has taken liberties and recreated the dessert that Ansel debuted earlier this spring.
Like the original Cookie Shot, Chang’s version is made with chocolate chip cookie dough, shaped in small shot glasses, and can hold either milk or a creme brulee filling.
The Cookie Shot will be sold at the Asia Cake Shop in the hotel lobby and brings the popular dessert to consumers in Indonesia.
Luxury hotels seem to be keeping a close eye on Ansel’s new creations. Last year, the Mandarin Oriental Cake Shop, also in Jakarta, launched the ‘Kronut.’
Likewise, bakeries around the world created cronut copycats under names like doughssants, Zonuts, Frissants, Cro-Nuts and Cronies.
