Sex and the City, the successful franchise that originally ran for six seasons on HBO before becoming two feature-length films, might be returning to television for a seventh season. That\'s Sarah Jessica Parker\'s plan, at least, according to The Daily Mail. Reports indicate that Parker was reluctant to make a third film after the lukewarm reception that the second film received from critics. Parker, who starred as Carrie Bradshaw in all six seasons of the series and both films, reportedly wants to produce the series\' return to HBO, though \"Darren Star - the man who created the hit series - will have the overall say,\" the Mail\'s source says. \"Everyone is agreed a TV show is the direction they want to take the franchise in.\" The news means SATC fans will have to wait for their next movie fix. Plans were well advanced for a film about the early lives of Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha and Miranda, with speculation rife over who will fill the famous four’s Louboutins. Elizabeth Olsen was tipped to play Carrie, Blake Lively, man-eater Samantha, Selena Gomez Charlotte and Emma Roberts, Miranda. ‘But they want to make the TV series before doing another film,’ says Daily mail source. Returning to television would disrupt plans for a slated prequel film to the series, starring Blake Lively and Emma Roberts as younger versions of the characters. It\'s unknown yet whether HBO or Darren Star will go ahead with the rebooted series, though we\'ll let you know when confirmation of either\'s participation appears. Parker will next appear in December\'s romantic comedy New Year\'s Eve. She has not returned to scripted television since Sex and the City wrapped up in 2004.
