Professor Riyadh Hamza, President of the University of Bahrain (UoB) expressed his pleasure to be at the Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League for Youth Centres, People with Disabilities and Girls, held under the patronage of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and Honorary President of Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities.
Professor Hamza attended some of the matches of the playoff rounds of the youth centres and unregistered clubs tournament and visited the photo gallery organised on the sidelines of the league.
He valued the care and patronage of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa of the Bahraini youth and sports movement by organising events that invests in their energies and improves their skills and talents such as HH’s annual futsal league, reflecting his care about local sports and talents.
The President of the University of Bahrain affirmed that Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League has become one of the most popular sports events among the Bahraini youth, as it reflects the social and humanitarian initiatives of HH to strengthen cohesion and social bonds between the Bahraini youth who represent all of the areas, villages and towns of the kingdom, as well as integrating people with disabilities with all sorts of activities.
Professor Hamza said the positive interaction of the youth with the league reflects that it meets the aspirations of the different segments of the Bahraini society.
He commended on the visionary of HH and his keenness on annually organising the league, which he said is a great opportunity to develop the youth and sports movement in Bahrain.
Professor Hamza praised the remarkable efforts of His Highness and the organisers and sponsors of Khalid bin Hamad League for introducing such a sports event every year for the past five years, serving the requirements of the youth, people with disabilities and girls and meeting their aspirations.
It's worth mentioning that Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League is jointly organised for the fifth consecutive year by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs and the Media Office of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, under the slogan #Generations_Meeting and comes as part of the initiative of His Highness. Launched on July 24, the league will continue to the 14thof the next month. It includes 59 teams that represent youth centres, local unregistered clubs, people with disabilities and girls' teams for the first time.
 
Playoffs conclude Thursday
 
In the third day of the playoff rounds of the youth centres and clubs competitions Al Naeem Youth Centre eliminated Al Dair Club from the competition by a cruel score of 9-2.
The second team that qualified to the semifinals was Jidhafs Youth Centre, who won Hoora and Gudaibiya Youth Centre 3-2. Jidhafs turned the table on their opponent after they were losing by 2-0 in the first half. The aggressive match witnessed four yellow cards shown to the faces of players of both teams.
The final matches of the playoffs will be held on Thursday between North Sehla Youth Centre and their neighbours Buquwa Youth Centre, and the second match and final match will be between Hamad Town Youth Centre and Sanabis Youth Centre. The winners will be the last teams to qualify to the semifinals of the league
