Under the patronage

Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, the Ajman International Pro Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2017 will take place on 8th and 9th September, at the Ajman Youth Centre.

The two-day event is part of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, UAEJJF, Agenda for the 2017-2018 Sports Season, its World Ranking, and Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Qualifying Series, and is open to all national and international Jiu-Jitsu teams, irrespective of the athletes’ level of proficiency, age, and playing status.

The championship reinforces the UAE’s commitment to organising and hosting the world’s best Jiu-Jitsu championships and is a testament to how deep-rooted the sport has become in the country.

This new edition of the championship further highlights Ajman’s growing profile as an emerging hub for world-class Jiu-Jitsu, hosting and showcasing some of the most skilled athletes, across all age groups.

The weekend’s championship will for the first time witness an increased participation from several clubs including Al Jazeera Club, Al Ain Club, Al Wahda Club, Ajman Club and Emirates Club. All participating competitors, from White to Black Belt athletes, are currently affiliated to the UAEJJF for the 2017- 2018 season.

Fahad Ali Al Shamsi, Board Member and Chief Executive Officer of the UAEJJF, said, "We are honoured by the kind patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi to advance Jiu-Jitsu in the emirate of Ajman, and uplift its current presence."

The Ajman International Pro Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2017 is being supported by Abu Dhabi Media, as part of their strategic partnership with the UAEJJF, to increase local and international interest in the sport. The Abu Dhabi Sports channel network will provide comprehensive coverage of this event and all foundation-organised events, ensuring local and regional fans are up-to-date on all the latest developments. This will include live coverage of the two-day event on ADTV 2 from 10.30 a.m. on Friday, 8th September, which will be inaugurated with a live studio discussion with some of the key stakeholders of the event.

Yaqoob Al Saadi, Head of the Abu Dhabi Sports channel network, said, "Coverage of Jiu-Jitsu championships such as this is a continuation of our partnership and commitment towards the UAEJJF, as it will not only build on its reputation for excellence in sports broadcasting but will also play a central role in the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation’s efforts to raise awareness of the sport. As a result of these initiatives, the UAE will continue to flourish as the regional capital of Jiu-Jitsu."
