A 6.0-magnitude earthquake hit the South Pacific island of Vanuatu on Thursday, the United States Geological Survey said.

The quake struck at a depth of 164 kilometres (102 miles), 76 kilometres northwest of the town of Isangel on Tanna island, USGS said.

There were no immediate reports of damage.
