Wall Street stocks tumbled in opening trade Friday after the US employment report showed fewer jobs were added in August than expected, but the jobless rate fell to 5.1 percent.

Five minutes into trade, the S&P 500 was down 1.3 percent, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 1.4 percent, and the Nasdaq Composite shed 1.2 percent.
