US stocks open lower: Dow -0.9 %, Nasdaq -1.0%

US stocks tumbled in opening trade Monday, joining European markets in a rout due to worries about the impact of Britain's vote last week to leave the European Union.

One minute into trade, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was at 17,241.25, down 0.9 percent. The broad-based S&P 500 dropped 0.9 percent to 2,019.32, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index fell 1.0 percent to 4,662.17.
