US stocks follow European markets higher; Dow +0.9%

US stocks opened sharply higher Tuesday, rallying with European equity markets following deep losses the last two sessions due to Britain's surprise vote to leave the European Union 

Shortly after the opening bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was at 17,296.45, up 0.9 percent. The broad-based S&P 500 climbed 0.9 percent to 2,019.11, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index jumped 1.2 percent to 4,649.22.
