Washington economy

Job growth in the world's largest economy slowed in the final month of 2016 while the already low unemployment rose marginally, the US Labor Department reported Friday.

Non-farm jobs increased by a solid 156,000 in December, although that was short of expectations. But the jobless rate nudged upwards to 4.7 percent, reversing a tenth of a point of the sudden drop in November to 4.6 percent.
