Embattled Japanese electronics giant Sharp on Thursday said its nine-month net loss came in at a whopping $918 million, as its boards mulls competing bailout offers, including one from Taiwan's Hon Hai Precision.

The company -- which has teetered on the edge of bankruptcy for years -- said its shortfall for the April-December period expanded to 108.3 billion yen ($918 million), compared with a 7.1-billion-yen loss seen a year ago.
