China's main Shanghai stock index opened down 0.05 percent on Friday, after improved investor sentiment following government moves to boost the market sent the benchmark up 5.76 percent a day earlier.
The Shanghai Composite Index slipped 1.87 points, to 3,707.46. But the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, added 1.83 percent, or 35.71 points, to 1,991.06.
