Technology shares led US stocks higher Monday, lifting the Nasdaq to a fresh record, following strong technology earnings last week and ahead of reports from Apple and Facebook this week.
At the closing bell, the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index stood at 6,092.47, up 0.7 percent. 
The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 0.1 percent to close at 20,921.30, while the broad-based S&P 500 gained 0.2 percent to end at 2,389.00.
