German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Monday that the conditions for fresh talks on a new rescue package sought by Greece from the European Stability Mechanism were "not yet met".

"The prior conditions for entering into new negotiations on a concrete programme of the European Stability Mechanism have not yet been met," she said after a meeting with French President Francois Hollande in Paris.
