Greek PM Alexis Tsipras

US President Barack Obama and Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras held a telephone call on Tuesday on the increasingly fraught talks to avert a Greek exit from the eurozone, the state news agency said.

Tsipras is taking part in an emergency European summit in Brussels and will address the European Parliament on Wednesday with his radical left government under pressure from all sides to pledge fiscal reforms in return for a default-saving agreement.
