Greece rejected Wednesday a "counter proposal" from its European-IMF creditors that was issued in response to Athens' latest debt plan, a government source told AFP.

Questioned about whether the new EU-IMF plans -- thought to contain even bigger VAT tax hikes and major public spending cutbacks -- had been rejected by Athens, the source replied: "Yes."
