Sri Lankan police Wednesday arrested the youngest brother of former president Mahinda Rajapakse on a charge of misappropriating millions of rupees in public funds, his lawyer told AFP.

Former economic development minister Basil Rajapakse was taken into custody after being questioned for over seven hours, his lawyer U.R. de Silva said, adding that the charge did not qualify for bail.
