French police on Tuesday banned demonstrations on Paris' prestigious Champs Elysees avenue and near the conference venue at Le Bourget north of the capital for the duration of the two-week UN climate talks.
The police warned that "other bans could be taken, depending on the necessity and the circumstances" as authorities seek to avoid any repetition of Sunday's clashes between hard-left demonstrators and riot police in a city still reeling from the November 13 jihadist attacks.
