Forces loyal to Libya's internationally recognised government seized control from jihadists Tuesday of a key central neighbourhood of second city Benghazi, a military official said. 

"We have totally liberated the area of Lithi," said Fadel al-Hassi, of Libya's special forces, who are battling Islamist militias including the Islamic State group in the coastal city.
