Seven more people were confirmed dead after a truck plowed into a crowd of pilgrims in north-central Mexico, raising the death toll to 23, authorities said Thursday.

The truck apparently lost its brakes before slamming into a religious procession in the state of Zacatecas on Wednesday. Officials had previously reported 16 deaths and 30 injuries.
