French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said Wednesday that Britain's exit from the European Union would be "a shock" for Europe.

However, Valls told the French parliament, a day before a summit in Brussels to discuss the issue: "We believe and we hope" that a deal is possible to keep Britain in the EU.
