Brazil's suspended president Dilma Rousseff arrived at the Senate on Monday to defend herself in an impeachment trial expected to remove her from office within days.

The 68-year-old leftist leader smiled as she entered the Senate building in the capital Brasilia greeted by a crowd of supporters who cheered: "Dilma, warrior of the Brazilian homeland!"
