Seven people were killed in a massive explosion at a warehouse in the northern Chinese port city of Tianjin, state media reported Thursday.

The People's Daily newspaper said on its website the deaths were caused when a shipment of explosives detonated in a storage container late Wednesday, reportedly also injuring some 300 people.
