has said developing and enhancing rail services needs EGP 41 billion.
"There are ongoing negotiations to buy 700 carriages to replace the old ones," he said in a press briefing on Saturday.
"We are also studying the potentials of purchasing 25 trains," he added.
A deal was reached with a French company to construct the fourth phase of the Metro line 4 in Cairo, the minister stated.
The ministry will also put a comprehensive plan for Egypt's harbors till the year 2040, he said.
Commenting on the recent attacks that target the metro and railway stations, the minister said more surveillance cameras and metal detecting gates would be installed at all stations.
