To close the very successful 2015 Bait Al Oud Concert Season, the Abu Dhabi-based music institution Bait Al Oud, dedicated to the teaching and learning of the traditional Oud and Qanun instruments, will hold a concert on Saturday as part of Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority's Music Programme.
The distinguished Qanun instructor Bassam Abdel Sattar, together with Alwan group, will be performing a concert entitled, "Conversation among Civilisations" at Manarat Al Saadiyat on Saadiyat Island on Saturday, 12th December.
Presented by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, TCA Abu Dhabi, the concert will feature seven distinguished artists, Ibrahim Fathi, Ahmed Taha, Mahmoud Srour, Mohammad Mehdi, Hosni Mujahid, Khaled Bo Hijazi and Osama Ismail, under the supervision of Qanun Master, Bassam Abdel Sattar.
Destined to display an intercultural musical dialogue, the programme will not only include Arabic, but also famous European compositions.
Displaying the rich panorama of music to be played on the Qanun, the evening will help to express how music, especially when played on one of the most traditional string instruments of the Middle East, can become both a celebration of musical heritage and an international language. Saturday evening's concert is free and begins at 8 p.m.
