Ten people were killed and tens of others wounded on Tuesday in separate attacks by Syrian militant groups across the country, according to local media. Five people were killed and 20 others wounded when mortar shells slammed the al-Zablatani district of the capital Damascus and the Jaramana suburb, in the eastern edge of the capital. In the central province of Homs, two people were killed and some others injured when two mortar rounds landed at al-Atef Square. The attack also left property losses in houses and shops. Meanwhile, a roadside bomb blasted in the eastern province of Deir al-Zour, killing three people and injuring 10 others. The bomb tore through a passenger bus that was en route from the Deir al-Zour's countryside to Damascus. The fresh wave of violence seemed to be the rebels' retaliation for their loss of a key strategic area in the north of Damascus. More than 100,000 people have been killed and millions displaced since opposition protesters first sought to oust President Bashar al-Assad and his government in March 2011. The country has been mired in the bloody conflict between the Syrian army and armed rebel militia ever since.
