Iraqi joint forces, backed by US-led airstrikes, on Monday killed 97 Daesh militants within the continuing operation to liberate Mosul.
Chief of Mosul liberation operation Lt. Gen. Abdul Amir Yarallah said there are no changes regarding positions of the Iraqi troops surrounding Mosul from the various axes.
He added that priority was given to completing clearing operations of the liberated districts from Daesh control.
Yarallah said Daesh attacks on the Iraqi advancing forces were repelled.
He added that 72 militants were killed while six car bombs and three other vehicles were destroyed during the foiled attacks.
Also, 25 militants were killed in US-led strikes conducted upon a tip-off near Mosul, the commander added.
