At least three paramilitary soldiers were killed in a roadside bomb on Thursday in Bajaur tribal agency, north Pakistan, near the borders with Afghanistan.
A senior administrative official, Suhail Khan, told media: "Three paramilitary soldiers were killed when they walked over an impoverished explosive device planted on a road side in Damadola area of Bajaur tribal district." He further said that the Frontier Corps (FC) soldiers were returning back to their camp after a routine patrol when they stumbled over the explosive device.
The attack came at a time when Pakistan is observing three days of mourning over a militant attack on an army run school killing around 148 people including 132 children in Peshawar city. Bajaur is one of the seven semi autonomous tribal regions governed by tribal laws and facing militants' insurgency for several years. Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif strongly condemned the attack and deplored the loss of lives.
