Islamabad - XINHUA

At least four Pakistani civilians were injured in a cross-border firing from the Indian side in the disputed Kashmir region on Wednesday, reported local Urdu TV channel Geo. Another local TV channel Dunya said that one Pakistani woman got killed in the firing. According to the local media reports, the firing incident took place at the Battal Sector along the Line of Control between Pakistan and India on Wednesday morning. Pakistan army has confirmed the firing in a short statement, but did not mention the casualties. "The Indian troops resorted to unprovoked small arms and artillery firing at Line of Control in Battal and Neza Pir sectors at 10:20 a.m.," said the statement, adding that the exchange of fire still continues. No other details are available. Pakistani and Indian troops recently involved in exchange of heavy fire and artillery shells despite a ceasefire agreement in 2003. Both routinely accuse each other of ceasefire violation. In January this year skirmishes between armies of two nuclear neighbors claimed lives of three Pakistani and two Indian soldiers. Pakistan and Indian have fought three wars since their independence in 1947 including two over Kashmir, the Himalayan region divided between India and Pakistan. Pakistan last week said that two Indian fighter jets violated its airspace in Punjab Province and stayed for two minutes over the Pakistani territory.
