A police official says a roadside bomb has struck an army vehicle in northwestern Pakistan, killing two soldiers, according to FOX News.
The official, Roohullah Bangash, says the bomb exploded as the army vehicle passed by on a road on the outskirts of the city of Peshawar.
No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack but suspicion is likely to fall on local or foreign al-Qaida-linked militants who have safe havens in Pakistan's tribal region along the border with Afghanistan.
Militants have been waging war against the Pakistani state for over a decade in a bid to topple the government and install their own harsh interpretation of Islamic law.
Army chief Gen. Raheel Sharif is currently visiting the United States and has vowed to eliminate all militants from Pakistan.
