Zoe Saldana's husband Marco took her surname after they married.
The 36-year-old actress revealed as much in an interview for the July issue of InStyle. Saldana and Italian artist Marco Perego started dating in Mar. 2013, and secretly wed three months later.
"I tried to talk him out of it," the star told the magazine. "If you use my name, you're going to be emasculated by your community of artists, by your Latin community of men, by the world. [He said,] 'Ah Zoe, I don't give a [expletive].'"
Saldana was previously engaged to longtime boyfriend Keith Britton, and subsequently dated actor Bradley Cooper. She and her husband welcomed twin sons Bowie and Cy in Nov. 2014, and the actress said she has been learning to lower her guard since.
"Finally when we had our boys, I looked at my husband and realized: I was meant for you and you were meant for me," she shared. "I've always felt comfortable around men as long as they were friends. Now I finally feel comfortable with my lover. I don't want to be separate."
Saldana last appeared as Gamora in Marvel film Guardians of the Galaxy, and will portray singer Nina Simone in new biopic Nina. The actress is also scheduled to reprise Uhura in Star Trek 3 and Neytiri in Avatar 2.
