Egyptian real estate tycoon Hisham Talaat Mustafa will be retried for ordering the killing of Lebanese pop singer Suzanne Tamim, officials said. Mustafa's trial is set for Feb. 6 in the Court of Appeals, Bikyamasr.com reported. Mustafa was found guilty in September 2010 of hiring former Egyptian police officer Ahmed Sukkari to kill the 30-year-old star, allegedly for $2 million. Sukkari has confessed to killing Tamim on Mustafa's orders. An appeals court ordered a retrial in March 2010, saying the original verdict had "mistakes in implementing the law" and the original court did not respond to some requests from the defense. Prosecutor-General Abdel-Meguid Mahmoud said the murder was a "vengeful act." Bikyamasr.com said Tamim had reportedly ended a 3-year affair with Mustafa and had recently left Cairo for Dubai. Dubai police arrested Sukkari less than two hours after the killing of Tamim at her apartment.
