A video appearing to show rap mogul Suge Knight hitting two men with his truck, killing one, was released Monday, the same day his lawyer argued the clip will clear his client of wrongdoing.
TMZ obtained the surveillance footage taken at Tam's Burgers in Compton, Calif.
It shows the moment when Knight pulls into the parking lot and is approached by Cle "Bone" Sloan, who worked as security for the new NWA biopic, Straight Outta Compton. Earlier in the day, Knight had been kicked out of location where footage was being filmed for the movie.
After Knight and Sloan engage with one another, it appears as though Knight puts his truck in reverse, knocking the other man to the ground. He then apparently drives back into the parking lot, hitting Sloan again and Terry Carter. Carter died of his injuries.
Knight appeared in court with his new lawyer Monday for a discovery hearing about the footage.
His attorney, Matthew Fletcher, said the video proves Knight did nothing wrong.
"They started it. ... They attacked him," Fletcher told reporters after the hearing. "You're not required by law to run. ... If Suge had put it in park and got out, he's dead."
Fletcher compared the situation to a stand-your-ground law.
Knight has pleaded not guilty to murder and attempted murder for the January incident.
