A dispute over Lady Gaga’s cancelled upcoming visit to Moscow, has resulted in the freezing of $1 million in the account of a US promotion company by a court in the United States. Russian music channel Muz-TV wants its deposit of $1.5 million returned together with compensation for losses suffered after NWE Talent Agency & Management Company failed to confirm the upcoming visit of the extravagant pop diva to Russia. The channel filed its lawsuit earlier this month in a court in Florida, which has agreed with the plaintiff’s arguments, RAPSI reported on Wednesday. The current queen of pop was to make an appearance at Muz-TV’s annual awards ceremony in June 2012, but the appearance fell through, despite arrangements made with the promoter. “The Russian side paid the necessary reservation deposit but the American side could not guarantee the concert on the required date,” read an official statement from YuTV-Holding, which owns the TV music station. All previous requests to pay back the advance payment remained unanswered and the lawsuit was filed on Jan. 26, according to the press-release, cited by RIA Novosti. NWE Talent Agency & Management Company, registered in Miami about a year ago, reportedly has spent $450,000 of the money paid by YuTV-Holding, according to documents submitted to the court, a copy of which RAPSI said it has seen. The agency fee for bringing one of the world’s top celebrities, however, was allegedly less than this figure, and according to an earlier media report, the figure was $300,000. The amount of compensation for the damages, requested by ZAO TV Service, Muz-TV’s legal entity, has not been revealed. Moscow - Moscow news
