Russell Crowe and estranged wife Danielle Spencer are still friendly.
Spencer, 46, revealed as much in an interview with the Daily Mail Australia on Wednesday. She and Crowe, 51, separated in 2012, but maintain an amiable relationship for the sake of their children.
"My kids are everything to me and I would hate to sort of have them living in a situation where they felt tension from their parents," she related. " [We] try and keep a smooth transition happening for them between the households and for them to see the affection that we have for each other."
"None of us do get married to get divorced," she said, echoing the actor's previous sentiment. "[Russell and I] are great friends and I hope we always will be. We're on great terms and that's everything that I would hope for for where we are right now."
Crowe and Spencer met on the set of The Crossing in 1989, and married in 2003. The former couple welcomed son Charles the same year, and son Tennyson followed in 2006. The actor hinted at a possible reconciliation with Spencer to CBS This Morning in April.
"I was so proud to wear that ring," he shared. "And every now and then, I'll do that on my finger, it's not there anymore. So, to this day, everything that I do is still connected to that, you know. And, you know, we haven't [divorced] yet. So, you never know."
Spencer is an Australian actress and singer who last released Calling All Magicians in 2010. Crowe was born in New Zealand but identifies as Australian, and is scheduled for Fathers and Daughters with Amanda Seyfried and The Nice Guys with Ryan Gosling.
