Richard Gere dating Spanish socialite Alejandra Silva

Richard Gere and new girlfriend, Spanish socialite Alejandra Silva, have gone public with their relationship after what sources say has been a year.

Gere, 65, and Silva, 32, arrived together at the 61st Annual Taormina Film Festival in Sicily last week, marking their first public appearance as a couple, People reports. The Franny actor was honored with an award at the event.

Afterward, the duo were spotted enjoying themselves on a yacht off the coast of Acitrezza, Italy, Monday.

Sources say a friend of Silva's told Spain's ABC network that she and Gere have been dating for about a year, but have kept their relationship secret from the press.

"They've been together for about a year but have been very private about it. Alejandra lives between Manhattan and Madrid and Richard has already been to see her a few times," they reportedly told the network.

"They've managed to keep it hidden from the press but all their friends know."

Gere and ex-wife Carey Lowell, 54, split in 2013 after an 11-year marriage; they have one son together. Silva is also divorced from her ex-husband Govind Friedland, and also has one son.
