Ricardo Medina Jr., the Power Rangers actor who was arrested in connection to the death of his roommate, was released from jail Tuesday and no charges were filed against him as the prosecution has requested the case be investigated further.
"I want to say I am very, very, very sorry for what occurred. I'm very happy to be out of jail and my heart goes out to the Sutter family," Medina said following his release.
The 37-year-old actor was arrested and booked on suspicion of murder Saturday after he admitted to stabbing his roommate Joshua Sutter in self defense after the two had an argument and Sutter reportedly forced his way into Medina's room.
His attorney Allen Bell said "there simply aren't facts here for a crime" because its a self defense case.
"You have an individual here that was the victim of a beating in the kitchen area before he went to the bedroom and closed and locked the door in order to secure himself from any continuing violence," she said.
Sutter's sister Rachel Kennedy said she doesn't believe Medina's self defense claim because her brother wouldn't have attacked Medina given that he "knew Rick's skills."
"He should absolutely pay for this one way or another," she said. "I won't give up, and I won't let my little brother's voice ever be stopped. I will speak for him and fight for him forever."
