Chris Young addressed Miranda Lambert affair rumors Tuesday on Twitter.
The 30-year-old singer spoke out after his alleged relationship with the 31-year-old country star was named as a catalyst for her impending divorce from Blake Shelton. Lambert and Shelton announced this week they will divorce after four years of marriage.
"I don't normally address gossip but in this case I will," Young wrote. "My name has been mentioned as a contributing factor in Blake and Miranda's divorce. That is totally FALSE. They are both my friends and I would not betray that friendship. Just wanted to clear that up. Love you guys - CY."
TMZ reported Shelton suspected Lambert of cheating with Young, and so was more susceptible to believe rumors his wife was seeing a different, unnamed man. The website claimed Shelton filed for divorce after discovering new information about Lambert and the other man.
Lambert and Shelton met at the CMT 100 Greatest Duets concert in 2005, and married in Boerne, Texas in May 2011. The couple collaborated professionally several times, including on several tours, and seemed poised to live happily ever after on their ranch in Tishomingo, Okla.
Like Lambert, Young came to fame on USA Network reality competition Nashville Star, and released his first album, Chris Young, in 2006. He last debuted A.M., which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, in 2013, and will release his fifth record later this year.
