Nick Gordon is under investigation for the attempted murder of his longtime girlfriend Bobbi Kristina Brown, Brown's aunt, Leolah Brown, said in a Facebook post Saturday.
Gordon reportedly checked into rehab following an intervention by Dr. Phil McGraw last week. Media reports have said Gordon is seeking help for his alcohol and prescription drug abuse, as well as his suicidal thoughts. He and his mother Michelle are to be featured on a pre-taped episode of McGraw's Dr. Phil talk show Wednesday.
Gordon's rehab stay comes more than a month after Bobbi Kristina Brown, the 22-year-old daughter of the late Whitney Houston, was found face down and unresponsive in a bathtub in the Georgia home she and Gordon shared. Bobbi Kristina's father, singer Bobby Brown, has banned Gordon from seeing her while she is comatose and on life support.
Bobby Brown has said police are investigating the circumstances of his daughter's medical emergency, but he has not offered many details, and Gordon has not been arrested or charged with any crime. Bobby Brown also has urged the media not to interview members of Bobbi Kristina's extended family, emphasizing they are not authorized to speak on her behalf.
However, Bobby Brown's sister Leolah posted an open letter to McGraw on Facebook Saturday.
It reads:
Dr. Phil,
With all due respect,
Nick Gordon is under investigation for the attempted murder of my niece Bobby Kristina Brown.
We have strong evidence of foul play. Until this investigation is completed by law enforcement, I would ask that you or anyone else not provide this individual a platform to spin this situation to his benefit.
If Nick Gordon does not have the courage to speak with my brother Bobby Brown and/or law enforcement about what happened the day my niece's body was found in a bathtub, he does not deserve to have a platform to speak to anyone of your caliber until this investigation is concluded.
Respectfully,
Leolah Brown
