Fast food strikes
New York - SPA

Fast food workers calling for higher wages marched and held sit-ins in 150 cities across the United States Thursday.
Fifty-two fast food workers in Detroit and 21 in New York were arrested during sit-ins. Fast food workers in New York City were joined by hundreds of supporters in a march through Times Square.
They called not only for an increase in their hourly wage to 15 dollars an hour also demanded the right to form a union without retaliation. The demonstrations were the latest in a series of one-day strikes by fast food workers dating back to November 2012.
The current minimum wage in the US varies by state, ranging from about 7.50 dollars an hour to about 11 dollars an hour.
