Shaikha Lubna Al Qasimi, UAE Minister of Foreign Trade, met with Bozena Czaja, the former prime minister of Poland and Vice President of the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency, to discuss boosting commercial cooperation and mechanisms to stimulate bilateral investments between the two countries. Trade between the countries was valued at $307 million in 2010. Shaikha Lubna stressed the opportunities that are available for both countries to engage in new investment partnerships in various sectors, pointing out the importance of strengthening communication between the UAE and Polish companies in order to increase levels of cooperation. "The UAE economy is headed towards greater diversification and now includes new vital elements such as clean and renewable energy and technological manufacturing," she said. Opportunities "The current non-oil investment prospects in the UAE offer many opportunities for Polish companies to expand their operations in the UAE market." According to the Ministry of Foreign Trade, the Polish official affirmed that the UAE is regarded as Poland's most important trading partner in the region. Shaikha Lubna also held talks with Dr Hage G. Geingob, the Namibian Minister of Trade and Industry. They discussed the prospects for increasing cooperation in holding conferences and exhibitions and encouraging businessmen to establish joint projects. She said that UAE-Namibian trade was over $49 million in 2010. Shaikha Lubana also met with Li Rui, the Vice-Governor of China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, to discuss UAE's commercial ties with China. She emphasised the importance of expanding bilateral ties especially in trade. China is UAE's second most important partner with bilateral non-oil trade reaching $14.2 billion last year. Tharaa in deal with MPA The UAE-based business conglomerate Tharaa Holding yesterday signed an agreement with Poland's Military Property Agency (MPA) to develop and promote its real estate projects valued at $600 million. Through its development company Hadara, Tharaa Holding, will develop selected land owned by MPA after studying the feasibility and valuations of the project. Tharaa Holding will also assist MPA to promote its properties in the Middle East through it's real estate brokerage arm Rich Ville Real Estate in Dubai. Krzysztof Michalski, President of MPA said: "This MOU paves the way for serious cooperation between our two companies to develop and promote our very attractive inventory of plots which were previously owned by the Polish Armed Forces at very strategic locations in the country". The land is just 30 km from the heart of Warsaw - the capital city of Poland," said Tarek Ramadan, Chairman of Tharaa Holding. From : Gulf News
