Tunis - Tap

Nearly 70 Tunisian businessmen will visit Benghazi (East of Libya) next December 18-21, at the initiative of the Confederation of Citizen Enterprises of Tunisia (CONECT). "It is time for Tunisian and Libyan economic operators to contribute to materialising the objectives of both countries' revolutions, particularly development, progress and prosperity, said CONECT Chairman Tarek Chérif. This initiative, he added, has "a symbolic dimension since it provides the opportunity to pay tribute to martyrs of both countries, in addition to its economic purport." Representatives of companies operating in different areas (energy, oil, food products, building material, civil engineering, ports and consulting...) will take part in this mission. "Tunisian businessmen will organise, next December 19 in Benghazi, direct meetings with 250 Libyan businessmen operating in different areas of production to develop bilateral trade exchanges and create joint projects in Tunisia and Libya," said Mr. Cherif. Applications for participation in this mission were beyond all expectations, underlined the Chairman of CONECT, adding that the Confederation plans to send two missions in Benghazi and Tripoli to be followed by sectoral missions in addition to visits of Libyan businessmen to Tunisia. He said that bilateral co-operation will serve to boost the development process in inland, midland and southern regions close to the Libyan borders. According to Mr. Cherif this visit seeks to strengthen co-operation with Libya and develop multilateral co-operation, including Tunisia, Libya and other countries such as Turkey. CONECT plans to organise, later, businessmen missions in Maghreb, African and European countries.
