For the first time since 1979, Boeing has sold aircraft-related goods to Iran Air, the US firm reported in its quarterly report.
"During the third quarter of 2014, we sold aircraft manuals, drawings, and navigation charts and data to Iran Air," Boeing said in its report. The sales generated 120,000 dollars in revenue and earned Boeing 12,000 dollars in gross profits, Boeing reported. In April, the US government issued a license allowing Boeing, for a limited time, to provide spare parts for safety purposes to Iran. However, Boeing is still not allowed to sell new planes to Iran.
The license was granted by the US Treasury Department as part of an interim agreement signed last November between the Permanent 5 members of the UN Security Council and Germany over the Iran nuclear program.
The company said more parts could be sold to Iran Air in the future. The United States cut diplomatic relations with Iran in the aftermath of the 1979 revolution.
Other US companies have expressed interest in conducting business with Iran under the eased sanctions agreement, including General Electric.
