Tokyo stocks end higher on Tuesday

Tokyo stocks ended higher Tuesday as US stocks were lifted after Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen signaled the US central bank may raise interest rates gradually later this year, while a weaker yen also improved sentiment.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended up 95.42 points, or 0.58%, from Monday at 16,675.45. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 8.34 points, or 0.63%, higher at 1,340.77, according to Japan's (Kyodo) News Agency.
Gainers were led by mining, oil and coal products and miscellaneous product issues.
