Japan's stocks slipped Tuesday on the yen's rise against the US dollar and other major currencies.

    The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended down 65.93 points, or 0.35%, from Monday at 18,910.78. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 4.27 points, or 0.28%, lower at 1,516.15. 

    Decliners were led by transportation equipment, mining and insurance issues. The day's turnover was about 2,061 billion yen (around 18.41 billion US dollars)
