In its QR1bn roll-out of fibre services, Qtel has reached a milestone by connecting 30,000 homes and 15,000 customers now enjoying “superfast Internet and next generation” television services. To facilitate smooth customer migration to Qtel Fibre, the service provider has initiated a two-stage process. During the first visit, Qtel technicians will install access equipment and bring the fibre cable into the home. In the second visit, the Qtel Fibre teams will install the required router and migrate customers’ services over to Qtel Fibre. The process is being carried out zone-by-zone across Qatar, with door-to-door visits taking place in every neighbourhood. When the Qtel Fibre teams arrive in a new zone, customers receive a special Qtel Fibre leaflet and authorisation form, letting them know that the Qtel Fibre team is set to visit one week in advance. Qtel Fibre team said, “We are working hard to reduce the gap between the first and second visits, as we look to bring Qtel Fibre to homes across Qatar. There are more resources going into the process over the coming months, which should ensure that more customers can enjoy the incredible speed of Qtel Fibre.” Qtel said its customers who already have the access equipment installed do not need to do anything; the fibre team will be in touch with them to schedule a bespoke appointment, which can be at any time of customer convenience. “Customers who have not had the required equipment installed should ensure that they can provide access to their homes for the installation team when they are in the neighbourhood,” Qtel said.
