Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced its production, sales and export results for June 2012 and for the first half of calendar year 2012 (January-June). 1. Production June 2012 Nissan's global production in June increased 4.5% year-on-year to 438,557 units, marking an all-time record for the month of June. Production in Japan decreased 2.5% year-on-year to 99,800 units, mainly due to decreased demand for Note, which is nearing the end of its model life. Production outside of Japan increased 6.7% year-on-year to 338,757 units, marking an all-time record for the month of June. In the U.S., production rose 13.6% year-on-year to 53,275 units, mainly due to increased demand for the new Infiniti JX and Nissan Frontier truck. In Mexico, production increased 9.9% year-on-year to 63,295 units, due to higher demand for Versa, March and pickup trucks. In the U.K., production increased 3.3% year-on-year to 46,320 units. In Spain, production decreased 1.3% year-on-year to 13,715 units. In China, production increased 2.9% year-on-year to 113,402 units, mainly due to strong demand for the new Venucia D50, Tiida and Qashqai, marking an all-time record for the month of June. Production in other regions increased 10.8% year-on-year to 48,750 units, mainly due to increased demand for Sunny in India and Almera in Thailand. First half: January-June 2012 Nissan's global production during January-June increased 19.0% year-on-year to 2,553,224 units, achieving a best-ever high for the January-June period. In Japan, domestic production increased 28.7% year-on-year to 578,439 units. This result is due to a rebound in production after the impact of the earthquake in Japan last year, in addition to increased demand for Juke and Serena (which qualifies for the government subsidy program for environmentally-friendly vehicles) and increased exports of Rogue. Production outside of Japan increased 16.5% year-on-year to 1,974,785 units, marking an all-time record for the January-June period. Production increased in the U.S., Mexico, the U.K., Spain and China. In China, production increased 16.3% year-on-year to 673,055 units, marking an all-time record for the January-June period. Production in other regions, mainly India, Indonesia, South Africa and Thailand saw an overall increase of 19.5% year-on-year to 283,269 units. 2. Sales June 2012 Global sales increased 16.4% year-on-year to 446,721 units, marking an all-time record for the month of June. Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 56,893 units in Japan, up 2.2% year-on-year. In Japan, vehicle registrations in June decreased 5.6% year-on-year to 42,602 units, despite increased demand for the new NV350 Caravan. Mini-vehicle sales in Japan increased 35.3% year-on-year to 14,291 units, marking an all-time record for the month of June. The strong sales result is mainly due to increased demand for Moco and Roox, which qualify for the government subsidy program for environmentally-friendly vehicles. Sales outside of Japan increased 18.8% year-on-year to 389,828 units, marking an all-time record for the month of June. Sales in the U.S. increased 28.2% year-on-year to 92,237 units, due to increased demand for the new Infiniti JX, which went on sale in April, as well as Versa and Rogue. In Europe, sales increased 14.2% year-on-year to 65,626 units, mainly due to increased demand for Qashqai and Juke. In China, sales increased 10.3% year-on-year to 119,158 units, due to increased demand for Tiida and the new Venucia D50, marking an all-time record for the month of June. Sales in other regions increased 31.2% year-on-year to 82,945 units, mainly due to increased demand in Brazil, India, Thailand and Indonesia. First half: January-June 2012 Global sales increased 16.7% year-on-year to 2,625,410 units, marking an all-time record for the January-June period. Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 366,569 units in Japan, up 31.1% year-on-year. In Japan, Nissan's vehicle registrations increased 32.8% year-on-year to 278,364 units, mainly due to increased demand for Juke in addition to Serena and Note, which qualify for the government subsidy program for environmentally-friendly vehicles. Domestic sales of mini-vehicles increased 26.1% year-on-year to 88,205 units. Sales outside of Japan increased 14.6% year-on-year to 2,258,841 units, marking an all-time record for the January-June period. Sales increased in the U.S., Europe, China and other regions. In China, sales increased 14.0% year-on-year to 678,007 units, marking an all-time record for the January-June period. Sales in other regions increased 25.4% year-on-year to 470,967 units, mainly due to increased demand in Brazil, Thailand and India. 3. Japan xports June 2012 Nissan's exports in June decreased 15.3% year-on-year to 63,590 units. Exports to North America decreased 3.4% year-on-year to 41,231 units. Exports to Europe decreased 30.1% year-on-year to 7,286 units. First half: January-June 2012 Nissan's exports in January-June increased 19.4% year-on-year to 333,078 units. Exports to North America increased 29.7% year-on-year to 206,435 units, due to a rebound after the impact of the earthquake in Japan last year as well as increased demand for Rogue and Murano.
