Riyadh - Arabstoday

Etihad Etisalat (Mobily), the second largest telecoms company in Saudi Arabia, has launched its hybrid cloud computing services for the business sector in the kingdom in co-operation with Virtustream. Addressing a press conference, Dr Marwan Al Ahmadi, the Mobily CBO said, “We have a clear vision of the needs of business sector in Saudi. Hence, partnerships with leading providers of world-class services support our vision to deliver the best services and enhance the operational productivity of the Saudi business sector.”   It was attended by Rodney J. Rogers, Virtustream chairman and CEO and other leaders from both companies. The two companies had earlier this year signed a strategic alliance agreement as per which public and hybrid cloud computing services are jointly built and provided by Mobily and Virtustream. Virtustream was chosen by Mobily as a strategic partner for their extensive enterprise cloud business experience in the US, Europe, Asia and Middle East. "The rapid growth in the industrial investments in Saudi depends heavily on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and is accelerating business agility in the kingdom, to remain competitive businesses need to rapidly adopt cloud," said Dr Al Ahmadi. Rogers said, "We see this as the perfect time for cloud services in the region and the alliance of Mobily and Virtustream in Saudi presents tremendous opportunities. Mobily is a leader in the ICT industry, and the best possible partner for Virtustream." "The power of Mobily’s fiber and mobile networks and world class data centers behind Virtustream proven enterprise class cloud solution makes this agreement truly unique," he added. Dr Al Ahmadi said cloud computing services can reduce information technology’s costs by up to 50 per cent, so it is becoming a necessity for the business sector. "Mobily was one of the first companies in the region to provide cloud computing services to business sector back in 2010," he added. TradeArabia News
