Russia’s veterinary and phytosanitary watchdog (Rosselkhoznadzor) plans to add 14 more Chilean companies to the list of accredited importers of fish to Russia, Rosselkhoznadzor press service said on Wednesday.
“After negotiations with the Chilean ambassador to Russia, we received a list of 18 fish companies, of which 12 have never exported their products to Russia. Six companies said they planned to expand their fish exports,” Rosselkhoznadzor press secretary Yulia Trofimova said, adding that the agency had decided to lift its fish import ban from two more Chilean companies.
Apart from that, representatives of the company Agrosuper, which is also on the list of the Chilean embassy, said their along with fish, company wanted to export pork to Russia.
Earlier, Rosselkhoznadzor said it planned to expend the list of Chilean exporters of vegetables, fruit, fish, meat and dairy products. “Fish imports that stood at 53,000 tonnes last year might go up two to three-fold. Clam imports may go up from 3,000 tonnes to 15,000-20,000 tonnes,” the agency said in a release. Rosselkhoznadzor also looked at allowing Chile to export potatoes to Russia.
