Award-winning Jazeera Airways on Monday issued its operational performance report for the second quarter of 2012, which showed that the airline has continued to grab leading market shares to the destinations it serves. The performance report, based on official figures from Kuwait’s Directorate-General for Civil Aviation, had placed Jazeera Airways as the leading airline between Kuwait and Amman, and between Kuwait and the Egyptian cities of Alexandria, Sharm El Sheikh, Assiut, Sohag and Luxor. The airline captured market shares of 38 per cent on the Kuwait-Amman route, 31 per cent on Kuwait-Alexandria, 60 per cent on Kuwait-Sharm El Sheikh, 50 per cent on Kuwait-Assiut, 38 per cent on Kuwait-Sohag and a 71 per cent on Kuwait-Luxor. Jazeera Airways’ market share also increased on the Kuwait-Cairo route during the second quarter to 27 per cent, with a 28 per cent market share during the month of May alone, an eight per cent increase from April 2012 and an all-time high since it launched the route in May 2011. The report also showed that Jazeera was the leading Kuwaiti airline between Kuwait and Beirut (capturing a 32 per cent market share), Kuwait and Bahrain (13 per cent), and Kuwait and Dubai (16 per cent).
